Outfit

Cold enough for coats now. I have had this raincoat for a year and a half and am delighted as many of my acquaintance speculated it would last less than a month - being from H&M.

I will be forced into overcoats before long, I have no doubt.

Shoes - Barker

Double breasted Prince of Wales suit (buttons added) - Baron of Piccadilly

Shirt - TM Lewin

Tie - Tie Rack

Pocket square - Tie Rack

Raincoat - H&M

great shoes, somehow I've never seen them in brown&white, always the black&white. thank you for that :)

Nicely restrained. Could have been almost too monochromatic, were it not for the pocket square.

I'm a big fan of 2-tone shoes, (Duke-of-Windsor slipons, spectators, aka correspondents, etc.). But lace-ups do run the risk of getting tagged "dapper" (as in Mafia Don dapper.)

I would prefer to see these shoes in Spring and Summer when they can be paired with other snappier, sportier togs, more colour and more contrast. I think that "mix" would be a better balance.

The mac says rain. The shoes do not.

In your current outfit my eyes go straight to the feet and stay there. Maybe a super-bold tie would have brought my eye back to your face/upper torso.

Mekinking,

Thanks. I have long been searching for them in navy blue and cream - they do exist but they are very rare!

John,

The shoes are rather eyecatching/distracting, but one must wear what one loves!

I suppose a tie of bolder hue/pattern would have achieved the balance you suggested. Maybe next time.

Many thanks for your advice.
